Drip Candles and Butterflies

I wish someone would write a book of knitting projects using all those little leftover colors of yarn that you end up with after finishing a stranded project. Even better, I wish the projects wouldn't require exact amounts of yarn so you wouldn't have to worry about running out of any one color.

The Drip Candles Socks from the book Think Outside the Sox would qualify. They are toe-up and they are stranded on the foot with a simple stitch pattern for the cuff. I used eight colors of leftover sock yarn (mostly semi-solids and solids) for mine. I highly recommend them and plan to make them again using size 1 dpns just for the heels and toes.

The next socks are Butterflies by Anniken Ellis who was a designer of the month on Sock Knitter's Anonymous on Ravelry. I used an off-white from the stash with Stroll Multi in the Paisley color.

Bubbles seems to approve of the new socks.

I will try to finish up at least one last project before the end of the year and I'll be back Saturday with my year-end totals and my 2012 knitting resolutions.

That does it; now I'll have to make some Drip candle socks, too!

I have the "think outside the sox" book and have been eyeing the drip candles....You've convinced me to knit up a pair! Thanks!

These are great! I need patterns that help me use up all of that yarn! I have so much of it.

Love these! It's always great to find a way to weed out the extras.

I have so many scraps, but haven't found anything useful to make out of them.. I'll have to keep this Drip Candles project in mind!
