Here is the yarn list for stranded color knitting I've been working on so far. I limited this to yarns fingering to worsted weight, non-superwash wool, plied and smooth textured, that come in a wide variety of colors. Each one is linked to the Ravelry yarn page and you can usually find vendors there. Because there was some confusion about which yarns are DK and which are sport weight I lumped them all together in the same category. It will probably be a month or so before I start on the list of all yarns good for colorwork that don't fit the original list. Thanks to everyone who helped me with the list!

I really love this picture of Jack. I have to hold him when we go outside because otherwise he's off chasing lizards. He once saw one in a tree which was probably the most exciting thing that has happened in his whole life.

Question: Why didn't you include the Vermont O-wool that you used to make that amazing hat?

Thank you so much for the list which I know will be very useful to me. Jack is gorgeous but he looks miffed that he's being restrained!

Wow, what a lot of work you've in compiling this list, from which many will no doubt benefit. Thank you!
And I must say that Jack is a very handsome cat.

Is Jack heavy? He looks like a big big boy!

That is one butch cat! We need more face pictures. Don't the hats fit him?

Well... Lizards are very exciting.

Elizabeth, although I use the O-Wool as a worsted weight, the Ravelry specs called it an Aran weight. I may go back and add Aran weight yarns to my list and then I will definitely include O-Wool. I love it for colorwork!

Susie, I think you're right. Before we adopted Jack from the humane society, they told us he was an outdoor cat so I guess he thinks he still is one!

Thanks knitterliness! I will continue to add to the list as I find more yarns. I'm sure it is not complete.

Vanessa, Jack is the original cuddly cat! He practically attaches himself to me during every waking hour. :)

Thanks Bridget! For some reason Jack doesn't like having his picture taken so I don't have that many good ones of him. I need to keep trying.

Agnes, I think Jack is large (he has short legs) but he is actually about the same weight as Bubbles - give or take 9 lbs.

fibergal, don't give me ideas about taking photos of Jack wearing hats. LOL He really isn't Butch though - everything scares him and he has this tiny little kitten meow.

Thanks Nanette! This is a great resource! You should put it in your sidebar.

Way after the fact, but another fingering weight yarn with good color support for stranding is Dale or Norway Dalegarn Baby Ull...great list by the way!
